14,000 Police Officers On The Roads To Ensure Michuki Rules Crackdown

At least 4,000 traffic officers will be reinforced by another 10,000 police officers to ensure success of the crackdown.

This comes as the crackdown on PSVs over Michuki Rules saw several matatu operators withdraw their services, while the few left of the roads hiked fares up to double or triple.

Fares along Thika Road, Jogoo Road and Mombasa Road were as high as Ksh200-250. Fare from town to Westlands tripled to Ksh100, which in normal days is between Ksh20 to Ksh30.

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has vowed to come down hard on violators. He has warned that there would be no backing down on the resolve to restore sanity in the transport sector.

The National Police Service also provided public complaints channels, to ensure total implementation of the rules which Interior Security CS Fred Matiang’i said will touch even the police service.
