Why Your Barclays Cheques Won’t Be Accepted In Kenyan Banks From February

Kenyan banks will no longer accept Barclays cheques effective February 1, following a re-brand of the lender to Absa Bank Kenya.

In a message, the Bank has consequently asked all its customers to replace their Barclays cheque books with Absa Cheque books by February 1 to avoid inconveniences.

“Please note that Barclays cheques will no longer be accepted by other banks effective 01.02.2021. Kindly plan replace your Barclays cheque book with an Absa cheque book to avoid any inconvenience,” the lender has told its customers.

Barclays Bank of Kenya officially changed name to Absa Bank Kenya PLC on Monday, February 10, 2020.

Formerly known as Barclays Bank of Kenya, the name change marked the start of a new era for the bank that has operated in Kenya for close to 104 years.
