Credit Bank Partners With Meru County To Foster County Social Impact Initiatives
Credit Bank has partnered with Meru County in a bid to support the county in realizing its Vision 2040 plan.
This partnership will see an incredible support for the region through enabling its small scale traders and entrepreneurs, as well as eradication of poverty and support of health in the region.
Meru county recently launched vision 2040 which was geared to capture the aspirations of the people of Meru and to propel the county towards realization of the national vision 2030 and as well Sustainable Development Goals where the county envisions ‘A United, Prosperous Green Model County’ delivered through promotion of sustainable development, technological innovations and industrialization.

Credit Bank will also support the investment arm of the county (Meru County Investment and Development Corporation) that provides a convenient framework for engagement by the private sector in the pursuit and delivery of its social economic and commercial ventures in the County that can generate decent commercial returns for their shareholders and equally generous social benefits/returns to the local communities in Meru.
Speaking to Pamela Mutembei Head of Business and Marketing at Credit Bank, she said “Credit Bank’s Entrepreneurship Hub, remains integral to growing and developing entrepreneurs. Part of the efforts are currently geared towards additional financing and leadership programmes for SME. EHub currently provides access to networks that link entrepreneurs to one another. The Bank is also partnering with social impact investors targeting to support women entrepreneurs through AFAWA programme amongst others.”
Through the partnership the bank will enhance the sensitization in the community on long term investment and their economic plans through financial literacy forums that enables the Bodaboda riders enhance their livelihoods by starting income generating projects through the Bodaboda initiative in the county.

Credit Bank will also partner in support of the Mt Kenya Running Championships. The championships, organized by the Meru County government, will go down on February 22 in Mt Kenya with the organizers targeting over 5,000 participants to raise more than Sh50 million for revitalizing their efforts in fighting cancer.
The winner of the 12km race will pocket Sh500,000 while the first and second runners up earning Sh250,000 and Sh100, 000 respectively. Meru is one of the 11 counties with high prevalence of cancer and proceeds from the event will boost the fight against the disease.
