Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (DTB) is set to be the financial services partner for the Belt and Road Initiative investors under the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (Guangdong Association).

This was announced during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between DTB Group and the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (Guangdong Association) during the early celebrations for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Speaking at the event, DTB CEO and Managing Director Nasim Devji noted that the move is aimed at boosting two-way trade between China and Kenya, enhancing the economic development of the country by financing Chinese businesses in Kenya and the Kenyan business in Guangdong province.

“We welcome all members of the business community interested in trade in the Guangdong province to access financing and support from DTB. Additionally, through our existing China desk, DTB is providing a one-stop banking solution to traders tapping into the Chinese market courtesy of the banks’ link to HBL in China,” said Mrs Devji.

On his part, President of the Kenya Canton Chamber of Commerce, Xian Wei Kin said “We appreciate DTB’s support for Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya. Our chamber will be a bridge for entrepreneurs from Guangdong  province doing business in Kenya and with the DTB partnership, members will enjoy access to superior banking services.”

The deal will see the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (Guangdong Association) members use DTB’s banking services including operating corporate and individual bank accounts, remittance services and lending services.
