Ferry Worker Ezekiel Oimba Wins Ksh22 Million Sportpesa Jackpot

The Christmas spirit blew into the coastal city of Mombasa with a little extra cheer for Gor Mahia FC fan Ezekiel Oimba, who became the latest millionaire after winning the SportPesa Midweek Jackpot.

Oimba, who has supported the record domestic league winners for over 25 years, was in high spirits on Monday morning as he was presented with his winners cheque of KSHs 22,244,187 by a SportPesa representative in Mombasa.

Oimba believes that Gor can retain the title they won last year despite the rocky start away to Bandari on the opening day of the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) campaign.

“I am still in disbelief after my recent turn of fortune. God has been good and I’m very blessed to have won this money.

“I love football and I’ve been a Gor fan since I was a young boy in my home village. I am counting on them winning yet another league title this season,” Oimba told SportPesa News.

Oimba was born and raised in Migori County but relocated to Mombasa after getting a job with the Kenya Ferry Services, where he plans to continue working despite his recent turn of fortune.

The money couldn’t have come at a better time for Oimba as he underwent a surgery on his spine in October following a road accident he was involved in two years ago.

“I thank God for this money because now I can settle the debt I owe the hospital. In fact, I’m going to do that as soon as today,” he offered.

He was accompanied by his wife, Lillian Atieno who is a primary school teacher and his four children. Oimba expressed his urge to travel to his home town of Migori to enjoy the Christmas break.

Oimba’s lifelong dream has been to venture into the real estate business and is confident that with proper planning he will be able to achieve it.

“We have no extravagant plans for our holidays. We will go to Migori to enjoy the holidays with the rest of my family.

“I can even take all my children on a plane, I’m sure they will love the experience,” a jovial Oimba stated.

“I have always wanted to be a part of real estate in the country and I will work hard toward achieving it now that I have the capability,” he continued.

The newest Kenyan millionaire added his gratitude for the leading gaming platform for his winnings and for giving him the opportunity to watch his mighty K’Ogalo on television against English opposition.

Gor became the first East African club to travel to the United Kingdom to play a SportPesa Trophy match against nine-time English champions Everton FC on November 6.

“Watching Gor against Everton was simply amazing. This was a huge milestone for Kenyan football.

“Despite the 4-0 loss, it was an experience we will all cherish for a lifetime thanks to SportPesa,” Oimba concluded.
