Ford Kenya Vows To Sue ODM Over Nasa Funds

FORD-Kenya will move to court to sue Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over the sharing of funds in the National Super Alliance (NASA) opposition coalition.

In a meeting with Ford Kenya party officials on Sunday, party leader Moses Wetangula accused ODM of excluding the other three NASA affiliate parties in the sharing of funds allocated to the opposition.

“ODM is appropriating all the political parties funds being paid from the exchequer to the exclusion of ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya,” said Wetangula.

Recently, the Wiper Party directed their members from making contributions to the Nasa coalition on grounds that there was no accountability at the Nasa secretariat.

“I did write a letter to the Clerk from instruction of our party’s NEC that our members’ contributions are needed in the party first. As a party, we didn’t feel the accountability aspect of the Nasa secretariat on how the money was being used,” said Wiper executive director Jared Siso as quoted by the Star.

Next to follow suit was ODM, who aborted their contributions to Nasa. National Assembly Minority leader and ODM chairman John Mbadi wrote to National Assembly Clerk Michael Sialiai directing the Clerk to channel lawmakers’ contributions to their parties.

There has been a wrangle within the coalition over sharing of funds, with ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya exercising unfairness in sharing of political parties funds allocated to the coalition.
