IEBC ICT Director James Muhati Resigns, To Be Appointed Huduma Kenya CEO

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT Director James Muhati has resigned.

Muhati, who has had a turbulent time at IEBC is set to be named Huduma Kenya CEO soon, to replace the current CEO Mr Dennis Mutuku.

In 2017, Muhati disagreed with the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and was suspended and his position taken up by the late Chris Musando.

Muhati was accused of refusing to cooperate with audit officers checking the agency’s ICT systems.

However, following the murder of musando, Muhati was recalled to head the docket with a short to elections, which were disputed.

His five-year term ends in May, but he has opted to leave early. Following his resignation, his position will be taken up by manager for business systems at the commission, Silas Njeru.

Mr Muhati is among four directors whose terms are expiring, and while others sought extension of their terms, Muhati opted to leave.

Others inlude  include acting CEO Hussein Marjan, whose substantive appointment is that of a deputy CEO, the Audit Risk and Compliance director Osman Hassan Ibrahim and Voter Registration and Electoral Operations director Rasi Masudi.
