Isuzu East Africa CEO Rita Kavashe has been named new British American Tobacco (BAT) Board Chair following the retirement of George Maina.
Kavashe joined the BAT board on Juley 2, 2020 as a non-executive director.
Her career began in General Motors (currently Isuzu East Africa) in 1995 in its East African operations, where she has worked for the last 21 years.
Previously, Ms Kavashe has held various roles including Domestic Sales and Distribution Manager, Sales and Marketing Director, Commercial Director, GM Sub-Saharan Africa Export Manager
Rita also serves on a number of government committees and has played a leading role in the development of social investment activities in East Africa, both at a corporate and personal level.
She is currently a Board member of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Kenya Roads Board, Kenya Private Sector Alliance, Automobile Association of Kenya and the National Transport & Safety Authority.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Moi University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi.
