Ken Ngaruiya has been confirmed as the Mediamax Network Limited Group Chief Executive Officer effective January 22, 2021.
Mr Ngaruiya was appointed the acting chief executive in June 2019 following the resignation of Ian Fernandes, who was the then CEO.
Before then, he served as the Chief Operations Officer.
“The Board of Directors of Mediamax Network Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Ngaruiya as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Mediamax Network Limited effective 22nd January 2021,” said the Board of Directors on Friday.
Mr. Ngaruiya is a qualified accountant and a First-Class graduate in Commerce (Accounting) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. In addition, he also attended Harvard Business School and Cornell University.
“He has close to 20 years’ experience in the Media, Advertising and Manufacturing Industries and has served in various capacities which include; COO Mediamax Network Limited, CFO Mediamax Network Limited, COO Crown Solutions Ltd (Gases) & CFO Red Sky Ltd,” said the Board of Directors on Friday in the announcement.
Mediamax media staple includes K24 TV, Kameme TV, Kameme FM, Milele FM, Msenangu FM, Emoo FM, Mayian FM, Meru FM, People Daily newspaper and two websites, www.k24tv.co.ke and www.pd.co.ke.
Under his leadership, the media house associated with the Kenyatta family has experienced a downward trend.
Last year, the company sacked hundreds of employees attributing it to cash crunch caused by Covid-19 effects.
At one time, President Uhuru Kenyatta was forced to drive himself to the company for a board meeting, after Ngaruiya fell out with employees over 50 percent salary cuts.
