In a tweet today, Tony Gachoka said that he had not been sacked, but had decided to take a break over the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Nobody has sacked me. I have suspended my show,” he said.

However, sources in the know intimate that Gachoka was fired, the reasons he has not promised a comeback in his tweets.

Gachoka said that the pandemic had affected the way he interracted with his guests, due to social distancing directive issued by the government.

“Covid19 means shooting a show with so many logistics puts many at risk. This includes crew, guest & myself. The other consideration for me was to allow the Country focus on the pandemic without any other sideshows. So for now #KTNPointblank with me will remain suspended,” he tweeted.

The show first aired in February 2019, and since then has been decorated with love and hate in equal measure.

The show has been said to be against Deputy President William Ruto, a political nemesis to Gedion Moi, who owns the station.

Here are some reactions from Kenyans:-

In his last show, Gachoka discussed about locusts, a topic that was deemed outdated regarding the adverse effects of Covid-19, a more current topic.

Gachoka’s show is among the top shows to exit the KTN show, which has recently been grappling with loss-making and lack of quality content.
