Naivas Supermarket is set to open a new branch in Kilifi, taking over the space that was previously occupied by Tuskys.
Tuskys closed the branch in October 2020, even as financial woes intensified over what has been termed as mismanagement and sibling rivalry.
The new Naivas branch will be located in Kilifi Complex Centre situated next to DTB Bank on Bofa Road.
“The new store which will be a food market will be opened towards the end of this month at the vacated Tuskys store. It will sit on 25,000 square feet offering jobs to around 107 staffs,” said Naivas Chief commercial officer Willy Kimani .
Naivas recently took over space left by Tuskys at Ananas Mall.
The Kilifi branch will be the 70th for Naivas in the country, making it arguably the biggest retailer in the country.
Other branches where Naivas has replaced Tuskys include Prestige Plaza on Ngong road, Moi Avenue branch, Mega City mall in Kisumu, Likoni and Bamburi in Mombasa.
Naivas has also taken over spaces left by other chain retailers such as Waterfront Mall in Karen (Shoprite) and Development House (Nakumatt).
In August 2020, Naivas raised Ksh6 billion from the sale of a 30 percent stake to a consortium of investors, including the International Finance Corporation.
