Raila Appointed Special Envoy For Infrastructure Development In Africa

Nasa leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been appointed by the African Union as High Representative For Infrastructure Development In Africa.

In his new role, Raila will mobilise political support from member states and the regional economic communities and facilitate greater ownership by all concerned stakeholders on the continent.

According to the AU Chairperson Moussa Mahamat,the appointment was made in order to expedite the integration of the continent through infrastructure in order to improve the economy.

This decision is part of the African Union’s drive to expedite the integration of the continent through infrastructure, in order to promote economic growth and sustainable development,” Mahamat said in a statement

He will also support NEPAD initiatives to increase support from development partners in the continent.

President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated the NASA leader on the new appointment stating that it was a product of the handshake and encouraged Kenyans to continue with the spirit as Africans were watching
