South Sudanese Self-proclaimed Billionaire Lual Malong Jr Goes Missing

South Sudanese self-proclaimed billionaire and tycoon Lual Malong Jr has gone missing.

His family says that Malong Jr disappeared from his hotel room in November 14, and went silent on them.

According to the family, he was picked by people in military uniform from his room, who arrived in two vehicles.

Speaking to the Daily Monitor on Wednesday, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said that the police were working with other security agencies to investigate “the circumstances under which he was picked up.”

“His brother reported [the matter] to police. I can confirm he is not in our custody,” the spokesperson said.

The matter was first reported by a Juba based radio station, Radio Tamazuj.

Brigadier Richard Karemire, the spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has denied has denied claims that Malong Jr was abducted by his soldiers.

“I have no information about that individual being held by the UPDF,” he said.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange in October, Malong denied being related to former South Sudanese General Paul Malong.
