SportPesa has cancelled all sports sponsorships following a prolonged battle with the government over tax compliance issues.

“We regrettably wish to announce that due to the uncertainty of this situation SportPesa will be cancelling sports sponsorships effective immediately. All clubs and partners will have received notices as provided for in their contracts,” said Sportpesa in a statement.

The government in July refused to renew Sportpesa’s license and suspended its Paybill numbers, a move that also effected on 27 other firms.
