Several top editors at the Standard Media Group have been sacked in the ongoing restructuring exercise.
Among those shown the door include KTN Managing Editor Ellen Wanjiru, The Standard Sub-editor Anthony Malesi and Kiswahili TV anchor Frank Otieno.
Reporters Moses Njagi, KTN News Editor Patrick Injendi, John Atambo (Former Kakamega Bureau Chief) and Protus Onyango were also shown the door through letters sent by the human resource department on Sunday, November 29.
The reorganization has also seen Travelog Magazine editor Thorn Muli, Pulse Sub-Editor Peter Ndoria and Standard crime reporter Cyrus Ombati sacked.
The affected staffers are set to appear before the human resource department on Monday, November 30.
The media house has been losing audience after the exit of big names to rival media houses, Joe Ageyo being a notable exit.
Consequently, its fortunes have dwindled and the media house is unable to sustain quality employees.
Early this year, KTN and KTN News, TV stations belonging to the media house lost Alex Chamwada’s two shows over non-payment.
Chamwada terminated the contract for Daktari comedy, the Chamwada Report and Daring Abroad.
The Standard Group recorded a loss after tax of Ksh484 million in the year ended December 2019.
The Standard Group houses KTN Home, KTN News, Radio Maisha, The Standard Newspaper, The Nairobian (a weekly tabloid) and newly launched Vybez Radio, Spice FM, KTN Burudani and KTN Farmers.
The company also launched two print products, Pulser and Travelog.
