Ukambani Governors Among The Best Five County Chiefs – Report
Kakamega County boss and COG chair Wycliffe Oparanya is the best performing governor, according to a report by Consortium of Researchers on Governance released last month.
Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana became second with 86.4 percent followed closely by Kwale’s Salim Mvurya with 84.3 percent.
Machakos’ Alfred Mutua was fourth with 77.6 while Kitui’s Charity Ngilu scored 76.7 to close the top five slots.
Nyeri (Mutahi Kahiga 34.5%), Wajir (Mohamed Abdi 32.6%) and Homabay (Cyprian Awiti 33.1%) competed for the last three slots respectively.
According to the research team leader Charles Mc’Olonde, performance was tested in delivery of devolved government services such as healthcare.
The study also focused on the County Integrated Development Plan (CIPD), budgeting and public participation and the governors’ job approval ratings.

An initial target of 10,000 respondents was set but 8,014 people were contacted and in the end 6,891 interviewed.
