Three suspects have been arraigned and charged at the Makadara Law Courts with obtaining goods by false pretences contrary to section 313 of the Penal Code.
The three, Halima Ismail Samason, Andrew Mwendwa Masaku and Angeline Mwende Njeru, are accused of obtaining goods worth Ksh8 million, pretending they are able to pay after they are delivered.
According to the charge sheet, Halima, Masaku and Mwende “On diverse dates between September 26, 2025, and October 3, 2025, at Menengai Oil Refineries Limited in the industrial area within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before the court, with intent to defraud, you obtained from Abdulahi Iman Noor 1000 cartons of bar soap, all valued at Ksh3,830,000, by falsely pretending that you were in a position to pay him back with profit after delivery, a fact you knew to be false,” the prosecution states in the charge sheet.
On the second count, the trio have been charged with obtaining Ksh3.2 million still under the pretence that they were in a position to pay them back immediately after delivery.
However, the three appearing before Chief Magistrate Beatrice Kimemia denied the two charges against them, and they were freed on bond.
The matter will be heard on April 21, 2026.
