Barclays Loses Ksh11 Million Through Three ATMs In 3 Days
Barclays Bank is counting losses after losing a total of Ksh11.2 million three ATMs in the last three days in what appears to be an organised theft ring.
At KNH, Ksh4.3 million was stolen from the Barclays ATM on Friday night at 11pm.
The incidence was reported first by a G4S staffer named Wilson Mzedi to the Capital Hill police station in Kilimani, saying the company got a report from the hospital complaining the ATM was not working.
A maintenance officer sent there established that the ATM had been tampered with and the money stolen.
Another Ksh1 million was stolen from Mater Hospital ATM, South ‘B’ on Saturday. The CCTV was smeared with petroleum jelly.

At the Barclays ATM in Mutindwa, Buruburu, the machine had been loaded with Ksh7 million on Thursday, but the firm received a complaint on Saturday that it was not operational. Upon opening the machine, it was found that Ksh6.29 million was missing.
The area did not have CCTV and was not manned by a guard.
