DStv Introduces KSh3,000 Package With All Premier League Matches
DStv Kenya has unveiled a major overhaul of its subscription packages, reducing its lineup to four options and introducing a dedicated sports package that will carry every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match at KSh3,000 monthly.
The new packages, which take effect on November 5, 2026, will range from KSh750 to KSh7,300, with the changes affecting both satellite television subscribers and customers using DStv Stream.
The new lineup comprises DStv Starter at KSh750, DStv Select at KSh1,500, DStv Sports at KSh3,000 and DStv Ultimate at KSh7,300.
The restructuring marks one of the company’s most significant changes to its subscription model in recent years, with greater emphasis on affordability, clearer package choices and wider access to sports content.
New DStv packages and prices in Kenya
Under the new structure, DStv Starter will serve as the entry-level package, while Select will cater to households seeking a broader mix of entertainment. Sports will target football and other sports enthusiasts, while Ultimate will retain the company’s premium entertainment and sports offering.
DStv Starter — KSh750 per month
The entry-level package will offer up to 116 channels, including Maisha Magic Plus, Maisha Magic Loko, Maisha Magic Poa, Cartoon Network, Disney Junior, LaLiga, Novela+ and Pearl Magic.
It will also introduce SuperSport KICKOFF, a channel carrying selected matches from major football competitions, including the Premier League and other leading leagues.
The package replaces DStv Access and adds 10 channels to the previous offering, according to the company.
DStv Select — KSh1,500 per month
Replacing DStv Family, Select will offer up to 149 channels featuring local and international series, movies, children’s programming, lifestyle content and selected sports.
The package will also include an enhanced movie offering featuring M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends, giving subscribers access to a wider selection of films and entertainment.
DStv Sports — KSh3,000 per month
The new Sports package is among the biggest changes in the revamped lineup, offering up to 159 channels and 17 dedicated sports channels.
Subscribers will have access to every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, as well as UEFA Europa League and Conference League fixtures.
The package will also include WWE, UFC, cricket previously reserved for the Premium tier, selected international club rugby and other sports programming.
In addition to sports, customers will receive the general entertainment content available on DStv Select.
The package replaces DStv Compact and is designed to make premium football more accessible to subscribers who do not want to pay for the highest-priced subscription.
DStv Ultimate — KSh7,300 per month
Ultimate will become the platform’s top-tier package, offering up to 180 channels and combining the Sports package with premium movies, series and additional sporting events.
Its sports lineup will include Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis and major golf tournaments, alongside the football and entertainment content available in the lower packages.
The package replaces DStv Premium, which currently costs KSh11,700 per month.
Subscribers face changes in monthly bills
The new pricing structure will alter how much customers pay to access certain content.
Premium subscribers moving to Ultimate will see their monthly subscription fall by KSh4,400, from KSh11,700 to KSh7,300.
Customers on Compact will have a new Sports option at KSh3,000, compared with the current Compact subscription price of KSh4,200.
Family subscribers will move from KSh2,250 to the new Select package at KSh1,500, while Access customers will transition to Starter at KSh750, down from KSh1,450.
The company has indicated that existing subscribers will be migrated to the new structure when it takes effect, with customers receiving communication about the changes.
The new packages will also be available through DStv Stream at the same monthly prices as satellite subscriptions.
New Swahili sports channel for East Africa
Beyond the package changes, DStv will introduce SuperSport Swahili, a 24-hour sports channel targeting audiences in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from November 5.
The channel will feature Swahili commentary and analysis covering the Premier League, UEFA competitions, LaLiga, Serie A, international football, athletics, UFC, WWE and regional sports programming.
The launch is part of the company’s push to provide more locally relevant viewing experiences while expanding access to international sporting events.
DStv has also announced a hardware promotion running from November 2, 2026, to February 28, 2027, during which selected decoders and hardware bundles will be offered at discounted prices.
Under the promotion, an HD decoder and satellite dish will retail at KSh1,500, with installation costing KSh500.
MultiChoice seeks to strengthen customer value
The package overhaul comes as MultiChoice, which owns DStv, continues to adapt to changing viewing habits and competition from digital streaming platforms.
By separating sports from its premium entertainment tier and introducing a lower entry-level price, the company is seeking to give households more flexibility in choosing subscriptions based on their budgets and viewing preferences.
The changes also expand access to selected premium sports at lower price points, particularly for football fans who have traditionally needed more expensive subscriptions to watch major competitions.
For Kenyan households, the impact will depend on the channels they watch most. Sports fans stand to benefit from the new KSh3,000 package, while families seeking general entertainment will have options starting at KSh750.
The revised lineup takes effect on November 5, ushering in a new phase for DStv’s subscription model in Kenya.
