Ecobank Kenya has appointed Rebecca Mbithi as its new Managing Director, effective February 9, 2026, pending regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

The bank said Mbithi brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in Kenya’s financial services sector, with a strong background in strategy execution, organisational transformation and performance delivery.

Her appointment comes as Ecobank Kenya positions itself for further growth and seeks to strengthen its role within the East African Community and the wider Central, Eastern and Southern Africa (CESA) region.

Mbithi succeeds Mrs. Josephine Anan-Ankomah, who will now focus fully on her responsibilities as Regional Executive for CESA. In that capacity, Anan-Ankomah oversees operations in 17 markets across the region, including Kenya.

Ecobank’s Board and staff expressed appreciation for Anan-Ankomah’s tenure, crediting her with providing transformational leadership that reinforced the bank’s position in the Kenyan market.

The bank said it is confident that Mbithi will build on the existing foundation and steer Ecobank Kenya into its next phase of accelerated growth and enhanced regional impact.
