Permanent Secretary Zeinab Abdalla Hussein, Credit Bank’s senior manager Pamela Mutembei are among the nominees on the Champion for change for the women in the workplace in the Top Women in Business Awards 2019.

The Women in Business Awards is set to happen on November 7, 2019 at Movenpick Hotel, and will acknowledge the roles played by women in business in building the Kenyan economy through creation of job opportunities and
increasing the national income in line with achievement of the government’s Big Four Agenda

Mary Muthoni, Chairperson of Women in business Kenya, said “Starting and growing a business can be both incredibly rewarding and daunting. To celebrate excellence in women in business and the role that they have played in the Kenyan economy will fuel an entrepreneurial impulse to create and expand the economic atmosphere.”

Some of the nomination category awards are, Champion for change for the women in the workplace, Startup of the year award, Best in human resource management award, Business owner of the Year, social entrepreneur award, Young Entrepreneur award among others.

Kenya currently has a difficult employment situation affecting not only the youth population, but the nation as a whole. It is no longer a problem for just the uneducated.

According to Ms Muthoni, enculturing entrepreneurship is a great weapon to counteract unemployment, as entrepreneurs make massive contributions to the growth and development of our economy by opening doors to new ventures, new business and new alliances, but to mention a few.

“In order to encourage more women to start businesses, motivate women in business to increase their investment in the sector, and to illuminate innovative best approaches in achieving the four pillars of the government,” Ms Muthoni added.
