Ayam Cemani, popularly known as the Lamborghini Poultry is a rare chicken from Indonesia that has a black color on the whole body even the organ inside.
It’s colour is associated with a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation (fibromelanosis), making the chicken entirely black, including feathers, beak, and internal organs.
The chicken is considered the most expensive in the world, with one chicken costing at least $2500 (Ksh250,000).
The roosters weigh 2.0–2.5 kg and the hens 1.5–2.0 kg. The hens lay cream-colored eggs, although they are poor setters and rarely hatch their own brood. Eggs weigh an average of 45 g.
There are two major known breed of the Ayam chickeni, that include the Ayam cemani general and Ayam cemani walik.
Ayam cemani walik has the same feature like Ayam cemani general such as the black comb, black organ, and solid black feather. But the differences between Ayam cemani and Ayam cemani walik is the shape of the feather. The shape of the feather Ayam cemani walik has a feather that is facing upwards.
The blood of the Ayam Cemani chicken is dark red.
