Samsung Launches 2018 QLED TVs That Blend With Your Interior Décor
Samsung Electronics Ltd has announced the launch of its 2018 QLED TVs in Kenya ushering a new era of intelligent display. The QLED 2018 line up was first launched in New York, in March this year.
“The latest QLED TV is most definitely our most innovative yet. The 2018 line up is not only sophisticated for the modern day consumer, but also minds the aesthetics of their space. Its features include improved picture quality, design, connectivity and intelligence, creating a truly limitless TV,” said Samuel Odhiambo, Head of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics East Africa.
The 2018 line up comes with much improved features including:
Q Picture – the TV’s true 4K colors have 100% Color Volume, to enable you see everything in incredible detail in any room conditions. Its true Direct Full Array delivers exceptionally deep contrast for an outstanding picture quality. The source of QLED TVs’ durability lies in Samsung’s use of inorganic Quantum dots. Unlike display technologies based on organic materials, Quantum dots do not degrade over time and this allows QLED TVs to offer exceptional picture quality that not only lasts much longer than other displays, but is guaranteed to be burn-in free.
Samsung QLED TVs are certified as the burn-in free TVs by video, an acclaimed German tech magazine. Conducted in conjunction with the connect Test lab, a global testing lab, all 2018 Samsung QLED TV series were proved free of burn-in and afterglow reaffirming QLED TVs’ position as one of the most durable displays on the market today.
Taking into account that the quality of a TV screen is strongly impaired by afterglow and burn-in especially after emitting HDR quality pictures with extreme brightness values, Samsung QLED TV is a product of choice among many other modern TVs, for those planning to invest in a high-end TV. It guarantees powerful visual capabilities without potential memory effects or permanent damage
Q Smart – with the internet of things coming into play, this feature simply controls everything with One Remote Control and automatically connects your own devices to browse all content through one interface.
Q Style, which comes with the one invisible connection and a No Gap Wall Mount to keep your home tidier and seamlessly harmonized. Ambient mode which is only available in the 2018 models brings you a new TV experience and new life style. The feature allows the TV to elegantly display images as well as real-time information such as the weather or news. Its main intent is to match the TV with the interior décor and works best with mounted TVs, when users are not watching a show or movie.
“Most TVs are turned off most of the time, so why not use this to show a beautifully decorative picture or some useful information instead of just being a black hole? Our new feature, ambient mode, lets you utilize the screen even when you are not watching anything on TV. You can use it to elegantly enhance your home or check the weather, news and time,” said Samuel Odhiambo, Consumer Electronics Manager, Samsung Electronics East Africa.
To set up the feature, you will need to take a picture of the mounted TV via the corresponding Samsung SmartThings app. From there, the app uses a color and brightness matching process to display the same color or pattern as the TV’s surroundings. Users can also upload their own photos instead or use pre-set décor images, such as a photo of mountains.
The ambient mode is also accessible via the Smart Things app, or a simplified remote and a new voice control assistant, Bixby, which makes its TV debut in the lineup. Bixby allows you to conveniently control all of the main functions of your TV with just your voice. You can use it to get useful information, answer factual questions and even control your home appliances.
“We recognize that the world has moved into the digital era and that is why the new QLED TVs are designed to seamlessly connect with SmartThings-compatible devices to offer users even greater control over their home’s smart technology,” added Mr Odhiambo.

To create even more stunning picture quality, the TVs feature new Direct Full Array backlighting technology that ensure that the screen is illuminated accurately. This reduces blooming and halo effects and enables deeper contrast, with inky blacks and brilliant whites.
The invisible connection is a simple solution to eliminate cable clutter, which integrates power cables and data lines that were previously separated to allow the TVs to harmonize with their surrounding aesthetic.
“Installing your TV on the wall makes your home look much neater. The Samsung QLED TV perfectly resolves the problem of cable clutter with the single all in one cable which is thin and transparent, and invisibly connects the TV and its one connect box. This means you do not have to struggle to reach the inputs behind the TV; all you have to do is simply connect all of your media devices to a single box which can be kept neatly out of sight,” Mr. Odhiambo concluded.
The new QLED 2018 line up is now available at Samsung Brand Shops & Authorized dealers countrywide with the entry models priced at Kshs 215,000 to Kshs 399,000.
