Telkom Kenya Appoints Steve Okeyo MD, Mobile Division
Telkom Kenya announces the appointment of Mr Steve Okeyo as the new Managing Director for its Mobile Division.
Mr Okeyo is taking over from Amer Atwi, who is leaving Telkom after three years of service since 2016.
“Amer played a strategic role in Telkom’s overall turnaround, during this period, having come with a proven track record in Telco leadership, handling dynamic markets in West Africa. He led and was highly instrumental in Telkom’s rebrand from Orange, our revamped distribution network as well as our re-aligned product development strategy. In the last three years, Amer and his team have positioned Telkom as the mobile data services provider of choice,” said Telkom CEO, Mugo Kibati.
Okeyo is the former Director for Regional Sales & Operations at Safaricom, where he led various teams to deliver customer growth and revenue, apart from being a trustee of the Safaricom Foundation.
Prior to this, Okeyo was Director for Sales Force Effectiveness at Lafarge in Paris, France, a role that involved leading a commercial change management program in 60 countries, world-wide. He was also (concurrent) a Commercial Director for the Bamburi and Hima Cement Companies. Steve built a good part of his career at The Coca Cola Company, over a period of ten years, during which he served in senior roles including that of Country Manager, Uganda.
