Nation Media Group CEO Stephen Gitagama Resigns
Nation Media Group (NMG) CEO Stephen Gitagama has announced his resignation at the end of July 2024.
Gitagama is exiting East Africa’s largest media house alongside 80 per cent of the NMG Board of Directors.
Gitagama, who has held the seat for seven years announced his departure on Friday, July 19, 2024.
“My tenure as CEO at NMG will come to an end by August 1st. I’m leaving behind a very strong team, and with the dedication you have, I believe you will go far,” he said
Gitagama succeeded Joe Muganda in January 2018. Before ascending to the top seat, Gitagama held the position of the Group Finance Director.
NMG, which is publicly listed, is the most successful media company in East and Central Africa and currently boasts the largest digital footprint.
It publishes the Nation and Taifa Leo newspaper brands in Kenya, The East African regional newspaper, the Daily Monitor in Uganda, the Mwananchi, The Citizen and Mwanaspoti newspapers in Dar es Salaam and a raft of e-papers and other online content assets.
Also in its stable are NTV in Kenya, and NTV and Spark television stations as well as K FM and Dembe radios in Uganda.
The company is cross-listed on the Kampala, Dar es Salaam and Kigali securities exchanges.
