Gikomba Fire Contained As Traders Count Losses
The Gikomba dawn fire that broke out Wednesday has finally been contained, even as traders at the market count losses.
The Kenya Red Cross indicated that it was assessing the damage the 4am inferno caused.
“Fire contained, thanks to Nairobi City County fire brigade team. No casualties reported. #RedCross to carry out an assessment,” tweeted Kenya Red Cross.
No casualties were reported in the incidence, and the cause of the fire is yet to be established. Authorities have said that investigations have started.

This is the second incidence of a fire break out in the market at wee hours, after the June incidence that left more than 15 people dead and 60 injured.
In 2017, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a probe after two fire incidents rocked the market in a span of nine months.
