Kenya is set to play host to a major terrorism and fraud security conference.

This will bring along Security managers, security specialists, risk management professionals, business continuity professionals and emergency response teams who will be trained on ways to curb fraud and terrorism.

The conference will take place from May 30- 31, 2019 at the Jacaranda hotel Nairobi.

This comes a few months after a deadly terror attack at Dusit in Nairobi, where scores lost their lives while
others got injured.

“We believe that private security is a key player and as far as terrorism is concerned. Unfortunately we leave it to elite teams and we are the majority that we get affected. The Response, the aftermath, the victims are wananchi hence the
need for such trainings. The lack of staff training on how to respond to emergencies of this nature has cost more fatalities” said Inayat Kassam, counter terrorism expert and trainer.

“It’s about time we get involved in promoting and coming on board as stakeholders because we need to train private participants we are on the ground and play a major role in this.”

In the recent past, terrorist attacks in the Sri Lanka led to loss of lives in a place of worship.

According to Universal Safety Centre and Consultancy CEO Mr Mberia Gitonga personnel involved in security strategy development, implementation and/or management of security operations should be well equipped and trained on how to prepare their institutions to recognize, respond, report and manage emerging threats.

“We believe in preparedness at all times through training! Security is a right for everyone and those mandated to protect institutions from security threats and fraud should make it their priority at all times,” says Mr Gitonga.

The goal of this conference is to equip security managers with practical knowledge to implement strategies for securing institutions amidst modern day threats while exploring new ideas, tools and techniques while employing situation-based measures to lower organizations vulnerability.
