PSC Denies Appointing Jacque Maribe As Head Of Communication In Ministry Of Public Service
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has denied reports that former Royal Media journalist Jacque Maribe was appointed as the Head of Communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.
This is contrary to social media posts attributed to Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.
PSC chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri clarified that no such appointment has been made, and neither has a request to employ her has been received by the board.
“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” he said.
Mr Kuria is quoted to have said “It is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission”.
The alleged appointment comes weeks after she was acquitted in Monica Kimani’s murder case which had gone on for almost six years.
Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who stood with Maribe while embroiled in the case, congratulated her on the new role.
“Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve Asante Moses Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand,” he said.
Maribe was acquitted in the Monica Kimani murder case on February 9, 2024, by Justice Grace Nzioka of the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, over lack of evidence.
According to Justice Nzioka, the charge brought against Maribe was not properly placed.
“It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge,” she said.
In 2009, Maribe became a senior Political Reporter at K24 TV and worked until 2011 when he left for Citizen TV.
