Schneider Electric, the leading provider of innovative energy management solutions has donated a substantial amount of Electrical Training Equipment to Don Bosco Kakuma to help support the next generation of electricians.

The electrical equipment donated by Schneider Electric Kenya includes materials that future electricians will use regularly in their day-to-day roles including drives, professional low voltage switchboards to help train in the installing, maintaining, and upgrading of different types of circuit breakers, electrical fault locating kits, short circuit protection and earth leakage equipment.

This will support training on the different protection systems against electrocution as they comprehend the intricacies of short circuits within a building and discover methods to safeguard equipment from potential damage and create safer environments.

All this gives students hands-on experience and equips them with skills that are directly applicable to real-world scenarios giving them an edge as they prepare for their future careers.

Don Bosco Kakuma, nestled within the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Turkana County, provides a nurturing space for education despite the challenges of displacement. It is a centre of hope and transformation that serves the youth in the camp and the local community to be self-reliant and regain their dignity.

“The generous contribution from Schneider Electric will play a pivotal role in enabling the students to access quality technical education and training, fostering a sense of purpose and offering a brighter outlook for their future.” Said Kamau Joseph, Don Bosco Kakuma’s Electrical instructor

This donation not only reflects Schneider Electric’s commitment to advancing technical education but also underscores the belief that knowledge is a catalyst for transformation, no matter the circumstances.

In the words of Carol Koech, Country President Schneider Electric East Africa: “We believe that education and knowledge have the power to uplift communities, even in the face of adversity. We are honored to support Don Bosco Kakuma in their mission to provide meaningful education to the 2000+ students in the refugee camp.”

Through this donation, Schneider Electric aims to equip the students of Kakuma with skills that will not only shape their futures but also contribute to the resilience and development of the community at large.

“We are hopeful that the impact of this donation will extend far beyond the walls of Don Bosco Kakuma, igniting a ripple effect of change and empowerment throughout the refugee camp.” Carol, added.
