The NCBA Bank has announced temporary closure of at least eight branches in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In a public notice today, the bank said that the branches will be closed as from April 1, until further notice.

The Branches include Eldoret, Galleria Mall branch, Changamwe, Thika Road Mall, Junction Mall, Nairobi Hilton Hotel, Machakos and Meru.

So far, there have been 50 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya, one death and one recovery.

Eight cases were confirmed yesterday by Kenyan Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.

Nairobi County accounts for the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 34 followed by Kilifi with six, Mombasa has three while Kajiado, Kwale and Kitui all have one.

Patrick Omwanda Amoth, Director General at the Ministry of Health stated that Kenya was likely to have 10,000 Covid-19 cases by the end of April.

“Our modelling puts us at having 1,000 cases by the first week of April. We postulate that we will have 5,000 cases by mid-April and potentially 10,000 cases b the end of April,” Amoth stated.

The Director-General, however, failed to explain how he arrived at these figures.
