Tupande, a company with a social mission that supports smallholder farmers in Kenya, and SunCulture, a leader in solar-powered irrigation solutions, have announced a collaboration to provide affordable and high-quality farm inputs, training programs along with solar irrigation solutions to smallholder farmers in Kenya. This partnership aims to enhance agricultural productivity, improve food security, and increase income for farmers.

Smallholder farmers in Kenya face numerous challenges, including limited access to quality farm inputs and reliable irrigation systems. By combining Tupande’s expertise in providing farmers with access to finance, training, and agricultural inputs with SunCulture’s innovative solar-powered irrigation solutions, the collaboration seeks to address these challenges and improve the livelihoods and incomes of smallholder farmers.

SunCulture’s solar-powered irrigation systems are designed to be affordable, easy to use, and environmentally friendly. By harnessing the power of the sun, these systems enable farmers to irrigate their crops efficiently, even in remote areas without access to electricity. In addition to this, SunCulture provides a financing model – Pay As You Grow (PAYG) – designed to enable smallholder farmers to make payments in affordable installments, making it possible for them to purchase solar irrigation equipment without incurring a large upfront cost.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tupande to expand the reach of our solar irrigation solutions to more smallholder farmers in Kenya,” said Samir Ibrahim, CEO of SunCulture. “Together, we can empower farmers to overcome the challenges they face and unlock the full potential of their land.”

Through this collaboration, SunCulture’s products will be sold through Tupande shops across Kenya thus reaching thousands of smallholder farmers, providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in agriculture. By improving access to quality inputs and irrigation solutions, the partnership will contribute to building a more sustainable and food-secure future for farmers and their communities.

“Through Tupande’s partnership with Sunculture, we will bring a holistic solution in addressing challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Kenya — access to quality inputs and ability to produce year-round. They will have all the necessary tools to grow their way out of poverty and deliver sustainable food security,” said Joel Ogembo, Tupande Product Lead.
